Andrea García, PhD, is Principal Associate for Social Policy and Economics Research. She is an educator, researcher, and technical assistance (TA) lead with over 20 years of experience in the U.S. and abroad. Her work centers on advancing equitable practices in education and human services programs and building staff capacity through collaborative and reflective practices. She is a skilled qualitative researcher with expertise in community engagement and facilitation.
García provides literacy, communication, and bilingual expertise for various Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) projects for USDA. She directed the Tools Necessary to Reduce the Number of Misdirected Certification Documents for USDA. She has worked with 24 different state agencies to help improve their SNAP client communications and helped develop the SNAP Model Notice Toolkit. For ED, García provides TA for the Promise Neighborhoods program, supporting grantees in implementing place-based programs.
